Search teams have found no new leads in the case of a missing tourist in Nagaland's Dzukou Valley. The operation has now stretched to thirteen days without success.
Tourist Vanished After Visiting Ticketing Counter
Pranab Das, a resident of Srinagar district in West Tripura, was last seen on January 4. Witnesses reported seeing him at the Dzukou ticketing counter in Viswema, Kohima district. His disappearance was officially reported on January 13, triggering immediate search efforts.
Massive Search Operation Mobilized
Multiple organizations joined forces to comb the challenging terrain of Dzukou Valley. The Southern Angami Public Organisation and Southern Angami Youth Organisation took leading roles. Police personnel from South police station and Khuzama police station provided official support.
The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority coordinated disaster response protocols. Local expertise came from the Southern Angami Tour Guide Council, while volunteers from various Southern Angami villages offered crucial ground knowledge.
Despite this extensive collaboration, search teams found no clues about Das's whereabouts through Saturday. The difficult valley terrain and weather conditions complicated their efforts.
Family Joins Search, Officials Express Support
Das's family members traveled to Nagaland and actively participated in search operations. Their presence added personal urgency to the mission.
On Friday, Kohima deputy commissioner B Henok Buchem met with search coordinators at the Viswema entry point to Dzukou. Senior superintendent of police Krodi Rhetso accompanied him, along with other administrative and police officers.
The officials conferred with representatives from SAPO and SAYO about search strategies. They also met directly with Das's family members, expressing solidarity and promising continued support throughout the operation.
The search continues as authorities remain determined to locate the missing tourist. Local communities maintain hope while facing the challenging conditions of one of Nagaland's most beautiful but treacherous valleys.
