A heart-wrenching road accident in a coastal Karnataka village has claimed the life of a three-year-old boy. The tragic incident occurred in Charmadi village, located in Belthangady taluk, on Wednesday.
Details of the Charmadi Village Accident
According to the complaint filed with the Belthangady traffic police station, the victim has been identified as Azleen Siddiq. The complaint was lodged by Abdul Nazeer B, a resident of Charmadi village.
The police report states that the young boy was standing in the courtyard of his grandmother's house. He was attempting to cross the road when a vehicle, coming from the direction of Charmadi and heading towards Belthangady, struck him.
Rash Driving Alleged and Legal Action Initiated
The car involved in the fatal collision was allegedly being driven by Mohammed Rafeeq. Authorities have accused him of operating the vehicle in a negligent and rash manner, which led to the accident.
The impact of the collision caused the child to fall onto the road, where he sustained multiple severe injuries. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention, the doctors could not save him and declared him dead upon arrival.
Police Case Under New BNS Sections
In response to the tragedy, the Belthangady traffic police have taken swift legal action. They have registered a formal case concerning the incident.
The driver, Mohammed Rafeeq, has been booked under specific sections of the newly implemented Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charges pressed are under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the BNS, which pertain to rash driving and negligence leading to death.
This case highlights the continuing danger of reckless driving on Indian roads, especially in residential and village areas, leading to preventable loss of innocent lives.
