Tragic Motorcycle Crash Claims Three Lives on NH-82 Near Katghara Village
In a devastating incident on Sunday morning, three men lost their lives in a fatal motorcycle accident on the Manjhwe–Fatehpur road, also known as NH-82, near Katghara village in Nawada district. The victims were returning to Gaya from a 'tilak' ceremony at Akbarpur village when their speeding motorcycle lost control and collided with an electric pole.
Details of the Fatal Accident
The deceased have been identified as Pratap Kumar, also known as Vikas Kumar, aged 20; Indran Manjhi, aged 20; and Sonu Kumar, alias Bhola Chaudhary, aged 42. All three were residents of Rivla village in Gaya district. According to police reports, they were riding on a single motorcycle and were on their way home after attending the 'tilak' ceremony of their friend's sister.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the motorcycle was traveling at an extremely high speed. As it approached the Katghara turn, the vehicle suddenly went out of control, crashed into an electric pole, and was flung into a field approximately 20 feet away. The impact was severe, and none of the victims were wearing helmets, which likely exacerbated the injuries.
Immediate Response and Investigation
Villagers who witnessed the accident rushed to the spot and immediately informed the local authorities. The police arrived promptly and transported the bodies to Sadar hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Harendra Yadav, the in-charge of Sitamarhi police station, confirmed that the damaged motorcycle has been seized as part of the investigation. He stated, "Prima facie, over-speeding appears to be the cause of the accident." The police have also notified the families of the victims about the tragic incident.
