Three Men Arrested in Dumka for Attempted Railway Sabotage

Government Railway Police arrested three individuals on Tuesday. They faced charges for trying to sabotage railway operations in Dumka's Pakur district. The men attempted to derail a train between Tilbhita and Kotlipokhar stations on January 10.

Details of the Sabotage Attempt

The accused placed a 1.6-meter iron rail on the tracks. This happened near level crossing gate number 41/C close to Kumarpur village. The location falls under Mufassil police station limits. A goods train later struck the obstruction placed on the railway line.

A GRP official stated the move was deliberate. It aimed to disrupt and sabotage train operations and movements. Authorities registered an FIR at the RPF Post in Pakur following the incident.

Identities and Motivations of the Accused

The arrested men include Yar Mohammad Sheikh, also known as Joker, and Rahul Sheikh. Both reside in Ranipur village. Najmi Sheikh is a resident of Kumarpur village.

Police revealed the trio had tried to steal coal from a freight train earlier. This theft attempt occurred at Tilbhita station on the night of January 6. The GRP statement explained their January 10 sabotage plan. They intended to avenge the arrest of one associate involved in the coal theft case.

Legal Actions and Current Status

Authorities charged the three men under specific sections of the Railways Act. These sections include 53, 174(C), and 147. All three accused were forwarded to judicial custody on Wednesday. The case highlights ongoing efforts to secure railway infrastructure against deliberate disruptions.
