Thieves steal Rs 8 lakh from IAF officer's house in Chatra

Chatra: Unidentified thieves made off with gold and silver ornaments, other valuables, and cash totaling around Rs 8 lakh from the house of an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer located in Kamat village under Dariatua panchayat in Chatra, police said on Saturday.

Incident Details

The house belongs to Satish Singh, an IAF officer currently posted in Agra. His father, Ranjit Singh, had locked the house on Friday evening and left for Panki in Palamu district to attend a tilak ceremony.

Ranjit, in his complaint, alleged that he returned around 2:50 am on Saturday and found the main door and rooms open. Household items were strewn across the premises, while locks of cupboards and an almirah had been damaged.

Police Response

Chatra SDPO Sunny Vardhan said, “Those involved will be arrested.” An investigation is underway, and police are examining leads to identify the culprits.
