Police officials in Thane have taken legal action by filing a formal case against two individuals who are accused of orchestrating a financial fraud against the owner of a private hospital. The alleged cheating involves a substantial sum of Rs 10 lakh, with the incident coming to light on Sunday following a detailed complaint from the victim.
Details of the Partnership and Alleged Fraud
According to the official complaint lodged with the authorities, the accused persons entered into a significant business partnership with the hospital owner back in 2016. This partnership was specifically for the medical facilities located in Dombivli, and it was structured as a 10-year agreement. The initial investment made by the accused in this venture amounted to Rs 63.2 lakh, which established their stake in the hospital's operations.
Financial Transactions and Profits
Over the course of several years, from 2017 through 2021, the accused individuals reportedly received regular profits and returns from the hospital partnership. The total amount they collected during this period is estimated to be approximately Rs 1.2 crore, indicating a profitable engagement from the business arrangement.
Abrupt Withdrawal and Fraudulent Demands
The situation took a dramatic turn when the accused decided to withdraw from the partnership abruptly, without prior notice or justification. Following their exit, they allegedly began making additional financial demands on the hospital owner. Using false pretences and misleading claims, they managed to extract cheques totaling Rs 1 crore from the victim.
