Thane Crime Branch Cracks Down on Notorious Inter-State Burglary Ring

In a significant breakthrough, the Thane crime branch has successfully dismantled a notorious inter-city burglary gang that was operating across multiple states. The police operation led to the arrest of four accused individuals, effectively solving at least 18 criminal cases that were registered in various jurisdictions including Thane city, Thane Rural, Mumbai, and Kolhapur.

Operation Triggered by Naupada Area Burglaries

The crackdown was initiated following a series of burglaries that targeted commercial establishments in the Naupada area. Specifically, the gang broke into Arthav Medical Shop and five adjoining businesses, prompting an intensive investigation by the authorities.

Acting on crucial evidence from CCTV footage and leveraging advanced technical intelligence, the Property Cell of the Thane police meticulously tracked the suspects. A senior police officer revealed that the team zeroed in on the gang members and traced their movements across different cities, which ultimately led to their apprehension.

Arrests Made Across Multiple Locations

The four individuals arrested in connection with the burglary spree have been identified as:

  • Vinaykumar Krupashankar Paswan, aged 21
  • Pradip Rambahadur Nishad, aged 20
  • Rajvir Sanjusingh Lahori, aged 19
  • Salman Ali Ahmed Ali Sheikh, aged 22

All the accused are residents of Ulhasnagar. The arrests were made in a coordinated effort across different locations. While Nishad was apprehended from Bilimora in Gujarat, Sheikh was arrested from Dehu Road near Pune, highlighting the gang's inter-state operations.

Modus Operandi and Recoveries

During the investigation, it was uncovered that the gang employed a specific modus operandi to carry out their crimes. They primarily targeted grocery stores and medical shops, forcing open shutters during late-night hours to steal cash and other valuables. To facilitate their movements, the gang used stolen autorickshaws and two-wheelers to reach their targets discreetly.

In the course of the operation, the Thane police managed to recover six mobile phones of various brands, with an estimated worth of around Rs 1.2 lakh. These recoveries are expected to provide further evidence and insights into the gang's activities.

Ongoing Investigations and Police Leadership

The four accused are currently lodged in the custody of the Tilaknagar police station, where they are undergoing further interrogation. The police are delving deeper into the crime to uncover any additional links or accomplices.

This successful operation was carried out under the expert guidance of deputy commissioner of police (crime) Amarsingh Jadhav and assistant commissioner of police Vinay Ghorpade. Their leadership ensured a coordinated and effective crackdown on the inter-state burglary network.

The bust marks a significant victory for the Thane crime branch in combating organized crime and enhancing security for residents and businesses across Maharashtra and Gujarat.
