The victim has been identified as Kavaresh, who originally hailed from Veppankulam village in the Sivaganga district. He was employed with a private automotive garage that specialises in water-wash services. This company holds the contract for cleaning the heavy tipper trucks used by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) for municipal garbage collection.
According to police reports, the accident occurred while Kavaresh and several of his co-workers were engaged in washing a GCC garbage truck. Preliminary investigations suggest that he came into contact with a live electrical cable connected to the water service equipment at the site. The shock was fatal, and he died on the spot.
