Teenager Dies in Brutal Knife Attack After Dumka Fair
A tragic incident unfolded late Thursday night in Dumka district, leaving a community in shock. A 16-year-old boy lost his life, while two other teenagers sustained serious injuries after a violent knife attack near Patharia.
Victims Identified and Incident Details
The deceased has been identified as Lakhindra Soren, a resident of Khairbani village under Ramgarh police station limits. The two injured victims include fellow villager David Hansda and a girl of similar age.
The attack occurred as the three friends were returning home from a local fair in the Jama police station area. They were traveling together on a single motorcycle when their journey took a horrifying turn.

As they approached Patharia, three unidentified youths on another motorcycle overtook them and forced them to stop. What happened next was both sudden and brutal.
The attackers allegedly attempted to forcibly pull the girl off the motorcycle. When Lakhindra and David resisted this aggressive move, the situation escalated rapidly. The assailants produced knives and stabbed all three teenagers repeatedly.
The violent assault left all victims with serious injuries. They collapsed on the roadside, bleeding and in critical condition.
Emergency Response and Hospitalization
Local residents who witnessed the aftermath immediately sprang into action. They rushed the injured teenagers to Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital in Dumka late that night.
Medical professionals at PJMCH worked urgently to save the victims. Tragically, doctors declared Lakhindra Soren dead upon arrival. His young life ended before proper treatment could begin.
David Hansda and the girl remain hospitalized and are currently undergoing treatment for their stab wounds. Their condition, while serious, is being monitored closely by medical staff.

Police authorities responded quickly to the incident. Sadar SDPO Vijay Kumar Mahto visited the hospital to record statements from the injured survivors. He confirmed that the deceased's body was handed over to relatives after completing the necessary post-mortem examination.
