Tamil Nadu Man Found Dead in Kolkata Hotel Room, Police Suspect Heart Attack
A tragic incident unfolded in Kolkata on Friday when a 28-year-old man from Tamil Nadu was discovered unconscious in a hotel room in the Kasba area. The victim, identified as Anupam Chowdhury, was found in a first-floor room of a three-storey hotel and was subsequently declared brought dead at the Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital (CNMCH).
Hotel Authorities Alert Police After Door Remains Locked
According to police reports, the hotel management contacted authorities around 12:30 pm after Chowdhury failed to respond to knocks on his door. Deputy Commissioner (Jadavpur-SWD) Bidisha Kalita stated that the victim had checked into the hotel just a day earlier. "The room was locked from inside," Kalita explained, adding that initial investigations suggest Chowdhury may have suffered a sudden heart seizure.
Police Investigate Possible Foul Play as Case Registered
While the primary suspicion points to a medical emergency, authorities are not ruling out other possibilities. "We are ascertaining why this was triggered or if foul play was involved," Kalita emphasized. An autopsy has been scheduled for Saturday to determine the exact cause of death. Police have also initiated efforts to contact Chowdhury's family in Tamil Nadu to inform them of the unfortunate event.
A formal case of unnatural death has been registered, and further investigations are underway to piece together the events leading to this tragic outcome. The incident has raised concerns about guest safety in hospitality establishments, though police have not indicated any negligence on the hotel's part at this stage.
