Tambaram, Avadi get new police commissioners in reshuffle

In a reshuffle of senior police officials on Friday, the Tambaram and Avadi police commissionerates received new commissioners. Additional Director-General of Police (ADGP) Prem Anand Sinha assumed charge as Tambaram police commissioner, while ADGP T Senthilkumar took over as Avadi police commissioner on Saturday.

New appointments in Tambaram and Avadi

Prem Anand Sinha succeeds ADGP Sanjaykumar, who had been posted to Tambaram by the Election Commission ahead of the recent Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Senthilkumar, who previously served in the state administration wing, has now been appointed as Avadi commissioner.

The reshuffle is part of routine administrative changes within the Tamil Nadu police department. Both officers bring extensive experience to their new roles, with Sinha having served in various capacities across the state and Senthilkumar known for his administrative expertise.

Context of the reshuffle

The previous commissioner, Sanjaykumar, was temporarily assigned to Tambaram by the Election Commission to ensure smooth conduct of the assembly elections. With the election process complete, the state government has now reassigned officials to their new posts. The new commissioners are expected to focus on law and order maintenance in their respective jurisdictions, which include rapidly growing suburban areas of Chennai.
