Suspension of 3 Midnapore doctors revoked

Midnapore: The suspension of three doctors of Midnapore Medical College and Hospital was revoked on Friday. Hospital superintendent (MSVP) Jayanta Kumar Routh, RMO Soumen Das, and assistant professor Dr Himadri Nayek — who were suspended after the death of two women and a newborn in Jan 2025 — returned to duty on Friday.

The suspension of former gynaecology HOD Dr Mohammad Alauddin was revoked earlier.

While Das and Nayek have been reinstated to the gynaecology department, Routh has been posted to the medical college pending a departmental inquiry. Notably, Routh was on leave during the incident and had previously submitted all details to chief minister Suvendu Adhikari during a Janata Darbar.
