Residents of Jagraon town in Ludhiana were left in a state of shock and distress on Sunday after making a grim discovery - an envelope containing what appeared to be a suspected human fetus discarded carelessly in a garbage heap near Kukkad Chowk.
How the Disturbing Discovery Unfolded
The tragic incident came to light when local stray dogs pulled the envelope from the trash pile, drawing attention to the contents. According to eyewitness accounts from the area, the dogs had partially chewed the remains before concerned residents managed to chase them away.
Former Khadi Board director Purushottam Lal Khalifa took immediate action upon learning about the discovery and alerted the city police about the disturbing find. The police response was prompt, with Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Balwinder Singh leading a police team to the scene to secure the area and begin investigations.
Official Response and Medical Examination
The police team quickly called in medical experts from the government hospital to handle the sensitive situation. Medical officer Dr Amarpreet Singh and his team arrived at Kukkad Chowk and carefully collected the scattered remains from the garbage heap for proper examination.
Dr Amarpreet Singh maintained caution in his initial assessment, stating clearly that "No confirmation can be made at this stage" regarding the nature of the remains. He confirmed that the collected material would be sent to a laboratory for detailed examination and analysis to determine its exact nature.
Police Investigation Underway
ASI Balwinder Singh confirmed that the Ludhiana police are treating this matter with utmost seriousness. The investigation has already been set in motion with CCTV footage from the surrounding areas being thoroughly scanned to identify the individual or individuals responsible for dumping the envelope.
"CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being scanned to identify who might have dumped the envelope," ASI Singh stated. He added that the truth would be known soon, and appropriate legal action would be taken based on the laboratory findings and evidence collected during the investigation.
