Surat SOG Arrests Diamond Worker with Fake Currency Worth Rs 5 Lakh
Police in Surat made a significant breakthrough in a counterfeit currency case. The Special Operations Group arrested a diamond worker from the Varachha area. Officers seized a large quantity of fake notes during the operation.
Details of the Arrest and Seizure
Acting on specific intelligence, SOG teams intercepted the accused individual. They recovered 1,001 counterfeit currency notes of the Rs 500 denomination. The total face value of the seized notes amounts to Rs 5 lakh.
Authorities identified the arrested person as Paresh Hadiya. He is 27 years old and worked for a diamond company for six months. Police investigations revealed his involvement in circulating fake currency for approximately one year.
Police Investigation and Statements
SOG Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajdeep Nakum provided crucial details about the case. He stated that Hadiya procured the counterfeit notes from a wanted suspect named Raju Vaghamashi. This supplier remains at large as police continue their search operations.
"Hadiya has been actively circulating counterfeit currency for the last twelve months," DCP Nakum explained. "Our estimates suggest he put notes worth around Rs 25 lakh into circulation during this period."
Financial Arrangement and Ongoing Search
Police uncovered an interesting profit-sharing arrangement between the accused and his supplier. Hadiya would retain 25% of the profits from circulating the fake currency. He passed the remaining 75% to Vaghamashi, who supplied the counterfeit notes.
Law enforcement agencies are now intensifying their efforts to locate the main supplier. The search operation aims to trace and arrest Raju Vaghamashi, who police describe as a wanted suspect in this counterfeit currency network.
This arrest highlights the ongoing vigilance of Surat police against financial crimes. The SOG's prompt action prevented further circulation of fake currency in the region.
