Surat Model Files Police Complaint Over Obscene Instagram Posts by Textile Trader
A 28-year-old model based in Surat has lodged a formal complaint at the Althan police station against a local textile trader, accusing him of posting her obscene videos and photographs on the social media platform Instagram. The accused, identified as Mitesh Jain, has been arrested by the police in connection with the case.
Background of the Relationship and Previous Complaints
According to the details provided in the complaint, the victim and Mitesh Jain first met through a mutual friend back in 2018. Their acquaintance eventually developed into a relationship. However, the situation took a dark turn when Jain allegedly began harassing the model. This led her to file an earlier complaint of rape against him with the Althan police in 2024.
Escalation of Harassment and Cyber Offenses
The harassment reportedly intensified in 2025. In April of that year, Jain is accused of creating a fake Instagram account using the victim's name. Through this account, he allegedly posted obscene photographs of her along with derogatory comments targeting her family members.
The situation grew more severe in July 2025 when Jain, along with an aide, allegedly set fire to the victim's high-end car in the Vesu area. In a separate incident, they are also accused of setting fire to another vehicle belonging to a relative of the victim in the Pandesara area. These acts resulted in two separate police complaints being filed.
During this period, the victim further alleged that Jain threatened her with an acid attack, adding to her sense of fear and vulnerability.
Recent Incidents and Mental Distress
The most recent incidents occurred in February of this year. On February 19, Jain allegedly created an Instagram channel on his personal account and once again posted obscene photographs and videos of the model. Similar content was reportedly uploaded again on the following Saturday.
Police officials stated that the continuous harassment, threats, and public posting of private material caused severe mental distress to the victim. She reported experiencing suicidal thoughts as a result of the ongoing ordeal.
Police Action and Legal Charges
Based on the fresh complaint filed by the model, the Althan police initially served a notice to Mitesh Jain. Following this, he was arrested. The accused has been formally booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. The charges include criminal intimidation and other related offenses connected to cyber harassment and threats.
The case highlights the serious consequences of online harassment and the use of social media platforms to intimidate and distress individuals. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the full scope of the allegations.
