Speeding SUV Collides with Police Patrol Vehicle Near Patna's High-Security Zone
A speeding SUV collided with a police patrol vehicle near the high-security BP Mandal roundabout in Patna, close to the chief minister's residence, under the Secretariat police station area on Sunday. The incident has raised concerns about traffic safety in sensitive locations.
Details of the Collision
The SUV, travelling at a high speed, rammed into a moving patrol vehicle of the Shakti Suraksha Dal, a special unit formed under Patna Police to protect women, students, and girls in the city. Due to the collision, both vehicles sustained significant damage, particularly to their front portions. The SUV then smashed through a guardrail and continued forward briefly before coming to a halt.
Injuries and Police Response
A woman police officer was injured in the accident, while other personnel remained safe. Quick-response personnel at the spot controlled the situation, with Gandhi Maidan traffic police and a local police team immediately reaching the scene. DSP Traffic-III, Ajit Kumar, who rushed to the spot, confirmed the details.
DSP Ajit Kumar stated: "A patrol vehicle was hit by an SUV. The front portion of both vehicles was damaged. A female police officer was injured, and the SUV driver and four other occupants were detained and taken to the police station for questioning. The SUV was travelling at a high speed and broke through the guardrail."

An FIR was filed based on the statement of the police driver. When asked about such an incident occurring in a high-security area, DSP Kumar emphasized ongoing efforts: "We are constantly taking action against over-speeding. We take action against those who are negligent." This highlights the police's commitment to enforcing traffic rules in critical zones.
