Six Booked for Assault in Land Dispute
The Lohian Khas police have registered a case against six villagers on charges of criminal trespass and assault following a land dispute in Ismailpur village. The accused have been identified as Chanan Singh, his son Ranjit Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Lovpreet Singh, Babbu, and Gurmukh, all residents of Ismailpur. According to the complaint filed by Jaswindar Singh, also of Ismailpur, the accused forcibly ploughed his 11 kanals of land on June 11. When he tried to intervene and stop them, the accused attacked him, causing serious injuries. A case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
Man Held for Cash and Passport Theft
In a separate incident, the Nurmahal police have arrested Pargat Singh, a resident of Chuheki village, for allegedly stealing cash, a passport, and other items from a house. The complaint was lodged by Salidar Kaur, wife of Jasveer Singh, who reported that the accused stole Rs 15,000, one passport, and other valuables. The police recovered the stolen items from Pargat Singh's possession. A case has been registered, and the accused is in custody.
Three Arrested for Drug Peddling
The Nakodar police have arrested two individuals for selling intoxicating tablets. Investigating Officer Paramjit Singh stated that 68 intoxicating tablets were recovered from Kulwant Singh, alias Kantu, and Shukaran, alias Karni, both residents of Chak Kalan village. A case under Sections 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against them. Additionally, the Nurmahal police arrested Amitabh Kumar, alias Raju, of Chuheki village, with 50 intoxicating tablets. He has also been charged under the NDPS Act.
Seven Booked for Attempt to Murder
The Mehatpur police have booked seven miscreants on charges of attempt to murder. The accused are Balwant Singh, Simranjit Singh, Sanni, Sandeep, Bittu, and Malkit, all residents of Madhepura village in Ludhiana, and Kali of Moga. The complaint was filed by Karnail Singh, a resident of Beetal village, who alleged that the accused attacked him with sharp-edged weapons, causing serious injuries. A case has been registered, and a search for the accused is underway.
Man Arrested with 22 Liquor Bottles
The Nakodar police have arrested Dimple Kumar, a resident of Gill village, for smuggling liquor. Investigating Officer Buta Ram confirmed that 22 bottles of liquor were seized from his possession. A case under the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against him.
New SHO Appointments in Jalandhar Rural
Jalandhar (rural) SSP HS Virk appointed Mehatpur SHO Inspector Aman Saini as the new Shahkot SHO on Saturday. Baljindar Singh has been appointed as the new Mehatpur SHO in place of Saini. The transfers are effective immediately.
