Silchar: A youth has lodged an FIR after a video showing him being humiliated went viral, alleging that the incident was actually a cover for an extortion attempt. Hibul Hossain, a resident of the Madhurbond area, filed the complaint at Silchar Sadar Police Station on Tuesday evening.
Details of the Alleged Incident
Hossain alleged that he was forcibly taken to a field behind a wedding hall near Circuit House Road by a group of individuals, including Sakran Laskar and Tanbir Mazumdar, on April 13. According to the FIR, six to seven persons assaulted him and demanded Rs 20,000. Out of fear, he reportedly transferred Rs 4,000 via UPI on the spot, but the assault continued when he could not pay the full amount.
The FIR further stated that he was stripped naked, forced to perform ear squats (locally known as ‘uth-bos’), and the accused recorded the humiliation on their mobile phones. “They threatened to make my nude videos viral, so I remained silent. But now that the videos have been circulated online, I had no option but to approach the police,” Hossain said.
Additional Threats and Police Investigation
The youth also alleged that the group threatened to forcibly admit him to a private rehabilitation centre if he failed to meet their demands. Police are investigating the matter, though an official statement is yet to be released. Investigators are verifying the financial transactions and the extortion claims made in the FIR.
