A video that surfaced on social media on April 13 showed policemen engaged in highly inappropriate behavior while assigned to guard an undertrial prisoner at the district hospital.
Video Reveals Gross Misconduct
The viral footage purportedly captured the heavily drunk officers sleeping on a patient's bed and even urinating into a dustbin within the hospital premises. Their police uniforms were clearly visible hanging nearby, compounding the seriousness of the breach of protocol. The incident has raised significant concerns about discipline and professionalism during sensitive assignments.
Assignment Details and Personnel Involved
The policemen had been deployed to guard an undertrial prisoner who was admitted to the district hospital on March 28 after his health deteriorated. The patient was later referred to Rewa for further medical treatment. The team was led by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Narmada Prasad Prajapati and included constables Udayraj Singh, Jitendra Singh, and Manish Tiwari.
Internal Inquiry and Findings
Following the circulation of the video, an internal inquiry was promptly initiated by the Sidhi police. The investigation confirmed the identities of all four personnel and established that the misconduct occurred while they were under the influence of alcohol.
