Seven Injured in Madhupur Clash Over Temple Repair Dispute
Seven people sustained injuries in a violent clash between two communities in Madhupur, Deoghar district. The conflict erupted from a disagreement over repairing a centuries-old place of worship that had leaned to one side over time.
Tension Erupts Over Worship Site Repair
On Wednesday night, tension gripped Lalgarh Mohalla when members of one community objected to proposed repair work at the ancient worship site. The objection quickly escalated into heated arguments.
These arguments soon turned violent as individuals began pelting stones at each other. Local police rushed to the scene and managed to restore order temporarily.
Violence Resurfaces on Thursday
The simmering tension boiled over again on Thursday morning. Groups from both communities clashed once more, hurling stones at each other in renewed violence.
Among the seven injured were three women, according to police reports. The injured individuals received medical attention at the Madhupur sub-divisional hospital.
Two of the injured remained under treatment, while the others were discharged after receiving primary medication.
Police Response and Investigation
Authorities deployed a large police contingent to prevent further escalation of tensions in the area. Madhupur subdivisional police officer Satyendra Prasad detailed the police response.
"Police teams from Pathraul, Budhai, and Margomunda stations were engaged in controlling law and order," Prasad stated. "Patrolling continues in sensitive areas and streets to maintain peace."
Deoghar SP Saurabh Kumar confirmed that a case has been registered with the Madhupur police station. "The matter is being investigated, and those involved in stone pelting and the brawl are being identified for further legal action," Kumar said.
Political Accusations Surface
Godda MP Nishikant Dubey made serious allegations regarding the incident. He accused state minority welfare minister Hafizul Hasan of fanning communal tension in Madhupur.
The minister did not respond to attempts to contact him for comment on these allegations.
Police maintain a strong presence in the area as investigations continue into the circumstances that led to the violent clashes.
