Kochi: A senior civil police officer attached to the Ernakulam rural police was found hanging at his residence in North Paravur on Tuesday. The deceased, Binu Varghese, 43, of Kedamangalam, Paravoor, was discovered hanging from the rafters of the roof. Varghese was serving at the Munambom police station.
According to North Paravoor police, when Varghese could not be located at home, relatives began searching and eventually found him hanging from the roof. Police conducted inquest proceedings and subsequently shifted the body for an autopsy. The body will be handed over to the family after the postmortem examination, scheduled for Wednesday.
Police officials reported that a suicide note was recovered from the body, in which Varghese stated that no one was responsible for his death. Officers stated that an investigation would be conducted to determine if he was facing any financial difficulties. Senior officers indicated that work stress was unlikely to have been the cause of death, but a thorough probe will be carried out.
