A sanitation worker faced a violent assault in Shivamogga on Sunday. The incident occurred near Lakshmi Theatre in the Hosamane area.

What Happened During the Attack

The victim, 53-year-old Anjani, works as an outsourced sanitation worker for the city corporation. He has held this position for the past two years. While performing his duties, four young men approached him on a motorcycle.

These youths, estimated to be between 18 and 20 years old, rode their bike dangerously close to Anjani. The sudden noise and proximity startled the worker. Anjani reacted by shouting "Hey!" at them.

In response, the unidentified youths began using foul language against Anjani. They verbally abused him in a harsh manner.

Bystander Intervention and Escalation

A bystander named Ravikiran witnessed the altercation. He tried to intervene and advise the youths to calm down. However, his efforts did not resolve the situation.

Instead of leaving, the youths returned to confront Anjani directly. They questioned him about shouting at them. The confrontation quickly turned physical.

The youths assaulted Anjani, causing injuries to his mouth and lips. The attack left the sanitation worker hurt and shaken.

Police Action and Investigation

Local authorities have taken note of the incident. Doddapete police have registered a case based on the complaint. They are investigating the assault to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
