Sangrur Police Crack Blind Murder Case and Bust Robbery Gang

Sangrur police have successfully traced and solved a blind murder case reported earlier this month in the Bhawanigarh area, leading to the arrest of seven accused individuals. The investigation also resulted in the busting of a gang actively engaged in robbery and theft activities across multiple districts, with police recovering numerous stolen items and vehicles.

Details of the Murder Case

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sartaj Singh Chahal provided details about the case, which involved the murder of Ramji Singh, a resident of Balad Kalan. The victim was guarding a borewell machine at a plot when he was allegedly killed by unidentified persons during the intervening night of April 6 and 7.

Following the incident, authorities registered an FIR under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Bhawanigarh against unknown persons and launched a comprehensive investigation.

Investigation and Breakthrough

To crack this challenging case, special teams were constituted under the supervision of SP (Investigation) Davinder Attri, with additional oversight from DSP (Detective) Daljit Singh Virk and DSP Rahul Kaushal of sub-division Bhawanigarh. The investigative teams were led by Inspector Sandeep Singh, In-charge CIA Bahadur Singh Wala, and Inspector Malvinder Singh, SHO of Police Station Bhawanigarh.

Police achieved a significant breakthrough on April 10 when they apprehended seven accused individuals. The arrested persons were identified as Asneh Pathak, Suraj Kumar, Ravinder Kumar, and Monu Verma, all residents of a colony in Mandi Gobindgarh of Fatehgarh Sahib; along with Nitish Kumar and Munna Kumar, residents of Mandi Gobindgarh; plus one juvenile whose identity was not disclosed.

Recovered Evidence and Additional Charges

From the possession of the arrested individuals, police recovered substantial evidence including a canter, a motorcycle, four stolen iron pipes, a stick allegedly used in the crime, and the mobile phone belonging to the deceased victim. Authorities subsequently added Sections 310(3) and 317(2) of the BNS to the existing case.

Confessions and Wider Criminal Network

During sustained interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to their involvement in several other thefts across different districts. Their criminal activities included the theft of iron pipes and sockets from a dairy farm in Fatehgarh Sahib, iron pipes from Sahnewal Road, iron bars (saria) from Ludhiana, and shuttering material from a canal near Dugri bypass.

Police have secured the remand of the accused, and further interrogation is currently ongoing. Officials have indicated that more disclosures and possible recoveries are expected in the coming days as the investigation continues to unfold.

The successful resolution of this blind murder case demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated police efforts and specialized investigative techniques in solving complex criminal matters while simultaneously dismantling organized theft networks operating across district boundaries.
