In a brazen late-night burglary, thieves targeted a locked house in Lucknow, making off with cash and jewellery valued at approximately Rs 7 lakh. The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of the Para police station, leaving a family devastated as the stolen items were intended for an upcoming wedding engagement.
Details of the Lucknow Burglary Incident
The break-in took place in Devpur New Basti, Jalalpur Para, located behind Keshav Garden. The crime happened on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, while the resident family was away in Unnao. According to the police report, the burglars forcibly broke the lock on the main gate to gain entry into the house.
Businessman Rakesh Yadav, the homeowner, stated that his family had travelled to their native village, Hafizabad in Bangarmau, Unnao, to fulfill the last rites of his mother. "When we returned to Lucknow on Wednesday morning, we found the main gate lock broken and household items lying scattered. Cash and jewellery were missing from the almirah," Yadav recounted. He immediately informed the Para police about the theft.
Stolen Items and Wedding Plans Disrupted
The thieves specifically targeted an almirah, breaking it open to steal valuables. The list of stolen items is significant and includes:
- A box of silver items
- Four pairs of anklets
- A large gold nose ring
- Three gold rings
- A gold necklace
- Two pairs of earrings
- Four gold lockets
- Two mangalsutras
- A pair of gold tops
The jewellery was particularly precious as it had been purchased for the engagement of Yadav's son, which is scheduled for February 6. The theft has now cast a shadow over the family's celebratory plans.
Police Investigation and CCTV Footage
Upon being informed, police personnel reached the spot and initiated an investigation. A crucial piece of evidence is that the entire burglary was captured on a CCTV camera installed in the neighbourhood. Para SHO Suresh Singh confirmed that efforts are underway to identify the burglars using this footage and assured strict action in the case.
However, Rakesh Yadav has raised concerns about security, alleging that there was no police night patrol in the area at the time of the incident. This claim highlights ongoing worries about crime prevention in residential localities. The police are now scrutinising the CCTV recordings to track down the culprits responsible for this substantial theft.
