In a significant enforcement action, the prohibition, excise, and registration department in Buxar recovered a substantial quantity of illicit liquor from an abandoned truck discovered along the Buxar-Chausa road on Monday. The estimated value of the confiscated alcohol exceeds Rs 6 lakh, marking a notable seizure in the region's ongoing efforts to curb illegal liquor trade.
Suspicious Vehicle Alert Leads to Discovery
According to Excise Superintendent Ashraf Jamal, the incident unfolded when a truck was spotted parked in a suspicious manner approximately 100 meters from a fuel station near the Dani Kutiya turn on the Chausa-Buxar main road. This location falls under the jurisdiction of the Buxar Muffasil police station area. An unidentified individual alerted the authorities, reporting that the vehicle was loaded with liquor, prompting immediate investigation.
Swift Action by Excise Team
A team led by Inspector Priyanka Kumari swiftly responded to the tip-off and seized the liquor from the abandoned truck. The authorities have identified the owner of the vehicle through the truck's registration number, although no arrests have been made at this stage. Legal proceedings are being initiated against the truck owner as part of the ongoing investigation into this illicit operation.
Ongoing Investigation and Legal Measures
The police and excise department are continuing their probe to uncover further details about the source and intended destination of the liquor. This seizure highlights the persistent challenges faced by law enforcement in combating illegal alcohol trade in Bihar, where strict prohibition laws are in place. The recovery of such a large consignment underscores the need for vigilant monitoring and community cooperation in reporting suspicious activities.
As the case develops, authorities are expected to pursue all legal avenues to hold those responsible accountable, reinforcing their commitment to enforcing prohibition laws and maintaining public order in the district.
