A violent clash between rival criminal gangs turned a liquor vend in Rohtak into a battlefield on Friday, resulting in one fatality and leaving four others wounded. The incident, marked by intense gunfire, has sent shockwaves through the area and prompted a significant police response.
Chaos Erupts in Broad Daylight
The shootout, which police reports indicate involved the firing of more than 30 rounds, took place at a liquor outlet that is allegedly connected to the notorious gangster Sunny Ritoliya, who heads the so-called 'Baba gang'. According to authorities, the violence was initiated when assailants belonging to the rival Himanshu Bhau gang opened fire at the location.
This initial attack triggered immediate retaliation from the other side, leading to a full-blown exchange of bullets. In the ensuing chaos, four individuals sustained gunshot wounds. Among the critically injured was a close associate of Sunny Ritoliya, whose condition was reported to be serious.
Aftermath and Police Investigation
Following the shootout, several of the injured youths made their own way to a private hospital in neighbouring Jhajjar for treatment. Tragically, one of them, identified as Deepanshu, succumbed to his injuries there.
The police investigation moved swiftly in the wake of the violence. Jhajjar DCP (Crime) Amit Dahiya confirmed that eight people were detained for questioning when they arrived at the hospital, ostensibly to assist the wounded. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are actively searching for three suspects who managed to flee from the scene. A pursuit is underway to apprehend them.
