Retired RBI Employee Fatally Stabbed in Delhi Home; Two Suspects Apprehended
In a shocking incident in New Delhi, the family of retired Reserve Bank of India (RBI) employee Madho Ram has alleged that he was brutally killed during a robbery at his residence on Mandir Marg this past Sunday. The tragic event has left the family in profound grief and financial turmoil, raising serious concerns about safety in the capital.
Discovery of the Crime and Police Investigation
Around 5:30 PM, Ram was discovered in a room of his home with multiple stab wounds, lying in a pool of blood. According to reports, an electrician who visited the house later found the victim and immediately alerted neighbors, who then contacted the police. Authorities swiftly responded to the scene, initiating a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the case: Azad Khan and his wife, Rubina. Both are known to the Ram family for an extended period, spanning 15 to 20 years, which has added a layer of betrayal to the tragedy. While preliminary police statements suggest the motive may be linked to a money-lending dispute, the victim's family strongly contests this, asserting that robbery was the primary intent.
Family's Allegations and Financial Distress
The victim's son, Siddhant, aged 26, provided detailed accounts to the media, alleging that valuable items were stolen during the incident. He stated, "A gold chain, two to three rings, and a significant amount of cash were taken after my father was stabbed." This loss has exacerbated the family's already precarious financial situation, as they relied heavily on Ram's pension for their livelihood.
Siddhant, who is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts through the School of Open Learning (SOL), expressed deep anguish over the impact on their future plans. "With my father's death, our future looks uncertain. My education and my sister's marriage arrangements are now in serious jeopardy," he lamented. The family had been preparing for his sister's wedding, making the sudden loss even more devastating.
Suspicious Activities and Trust Betrayed
Siddhant further alleged that Azad Khan had conducted two to three reconnaissance visits on the day of the incident, apparently to ascertain when Ram would be alone at home. "He had earned our trust over the years and used to visit frequently. No one suspected him of any malicious intent," Siddhant revealed, highlighting how the suspect exploited their long-standing relationship.
According to Siddhant's account, the attack occurred when his mother was preparing to leave for a function. His father had asked for water, and Khan, who had arrived at that moment, offered to provide it. Siddhant claimed that Khan had brought a pair of scissors with the intent to kill and might have attacked Ram while he was asleep, indicating premeditation.
Police Findings and Evidence Tampering
In their investigation, police reported that Rubina admitted to attempting to destroy evidence by washing Khan's blood-stained clothes. This admission points to efforts to conceal the crime, adding complexity to the case. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses to build a strong legal case against the accused.
The incident has sparked discussions about crime prevention and trust in urban areas, with many calling for enhanced security measures. As the legal process unfolds, the Ram family remains hopeful for justice while grappling with the emotional and financial aftermath of this heartbreaking event.
