Real Estate Agent Targeted in Brazen Daylight Shooting

In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the city, a 42-year-old real estate agent was shot and injured by three unidentified assailants in the Charkop area of Kandivali (West) on Wednesday afternoon. The victim, identified as Freddy D'lima, was attacked as he was leaving an English-medium school in Ganesh Nagar, where he had gone to meet someone.

Miraculous Escape and Swift Self-Rescue

Despite sustaining two bullet wounds, D'lima displayed remarkable presence of mind. He managed to drive his own car to the nearby Oscar Hospital for immediate medical assistance. A crime branch official provided an update on his condition, stating, "Both the bullets were removed and he is currently out of danger." The attack occurred around 2 pm, with one bullet hitting his abdomen and another striking his chest.

Masked Assailants Make a Quick Getaway

According to police officers, the three attackers were waiting outside the school and opened fire as soon as D'lima stepped out. They made their escape on a single motorcycle. In a detail that has complicated identification efforts, the bike rider and one pillion rider were wearing helmets, while the third man wore a cap. All three had covered their faces with masks.

The motive behind this violent crime is still unknown and remains a key focus of the ongoing investigation. The Charkop Police have registered a case of attempt to murder along with other relevant sections of the BNS.

Previous Threats and Ongoing Investigation

A significant lead has emerged, revealing that D'lima had received a threat call just three days prior to the shooting. A relative of the victim confirmed to mediapersons that the caller had "threatened him with dire consequences." In a proactive move, D'lima had approached the police, registered a non-cognisable offence, and even submitted a recording of the threatening call for investigation.

Authorities are pursuing multiple angles. CCTV cameras from the vicinity are being scrutinized, and a forensic team has collected crucial evidence from the crime scene. Given that the real estate agent is known to have enmity with several individuals, the police are questioning a number of people to gather further leads.
