Ranchi Teenager Drowns in Khunti's Remta Dam

In a tragic incident, an 18-year-old boy from Ranchi drowned in Remta Dam located in Khunti district on Tuesday. The victim, identified as Vivek, had gone to the dam with four of his friends for an outing.

Details of the Incident

According to Khunti Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Varun Rajak, Vivek and his friends ventured into the water for a bath. While bathing, Vivek got into difficulty and drowned. His friends immediately raised an alarm, but they were unable to rescue him.

A team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was called to the scene. After an extensive search operation, the NDRF team recovered Vivek's body in the evening hours of the same day.

In a poignant twist, Vivek's father is a police constable who serves in the security team of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. This connection has added a layer of sorrow to the incident, highlighting the personal tragedy within the law enforcement community.
