In a significant breakthrough, Ranchi police have apprehended 10 members of a criminal gang responsible for a series of loot and dacoity incidents reported across Ranchi district over the past 12 days. The arrests were announced on Sunday by senior police officers, marking a crucial step in curbing the recent surge in violent crimes in the area.
Identities of the Accused Revealed
The accused individuals have been identified as Zahir Khan, Frahan Khan, Sheikh Jamil, Arslaan Khan, Md Faizaan, Soaib Ansari, Sehbaaz Salman, Kasif Yusuf, Sheikh Muzaamil, and Raja Khan. SP (rural) Praveen Pushkar and SP (city) Paras Rana confirmed these details, highlighting the coordinated efforts between rural and city police units in tracking down the suspects.
Confessions and Details of Criminal Activities
During interrogation, the gang members confessed to their involvement in multiple high-profile incidents. Key events include:
- March 22: A loot at a petrol pump in Pundag.
- March 24: Simultaneous loots at two petrol pumps in BIT Mesra and a CNG pump in Tatisilwai.
- Same day: A violent attack in the Ormanjhi area, where they allegedly stabbed a shopkeeper and looted valuables.
- March 17: Cash loot from Apna Mart under the Doranda police station limits.
These incidents have caused widespread fear among local residents and business owners, prompting increased police patrols and investigations.
Separate Murder Case Arrest
In a related development, SP Paras Rana also announced the arrest of Sachin Yadav, who is accused of killing an employee of Titos Restaurant under Airport police station limits on March 7. Police investigations revealed that the firing was carried out on the instructions of gangster Prince Khan, indicating possible links to broader criminal networks operating in the region.
