The Ranchi district administration has implemented stringent security measures, including a ban on drones and hot air balloons, ahead of President Droupadi Murmu's three-day visit to Jharkhand. The restrictions are focused on the route between Birsa Munda Airport in Hinoo and the Lok Bhawan, where the President will be staying.
Comprehensive No-Fly Zone and Route Security
In an official order issued on Saturday, the authorities declared a no-fly zone within a 200-metre radius of the President's approach route to Lok Bhawan. This prohibition on all aerial objects, including drones and balloons, will be active from 6 am on Sunday, December 29, until 10 pm on Monday, December 30. Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri has directed officials to finalize all arrangements concerning security, protocol, and traffic management.
Police are taking no chances with the President's safety. IG South Chottanagpur Manoj Kaushik stated that adequate police personnel have been deployed to ensure foolproof security. The routes have been barricaded and will be thoroughly sanitized before the President's movement. Additional restrictions will also be in place for high-rise buildings located along the designated path.
Extensive Traffic Regulations Across the City
The traffic police have announced a detailed plan to regulate vehicle movement, which began on Saturday itself. Key restrictions include:
- A ban on all goods-laden vehicles entering the state capital from Sunday afternoon.
- Prohibition of small and large goods vehicles, auto-rickshaws, toto, and passenger vehicles on the President's route from Birsa Munda Airport to Lok Bhawan between 2 pm and 10:30 pm on Sunday.
- Traffic restrictions on goods carriers, buses, and passenger vehicles on Monday, December 30, from 7 am to 11 am and again from 4 pm to 8:30 pm.
Furthermore, on December 30, the entry and movement of all goods-carrying vehicles, buses, and passenger vehicles will be completely barred in the city from 8 am to 4 pm. The notification also warned that traffic may be stopped or diverted for short periods on other routes as required for security protocols.
A Coordinated Security Effort
The administration's preparations highlight a multi-faceted approach to security during high-profile visits. The instructions from DC Bhajantri encompass not just physical security but also traffic control, route management, and communication systems. President Murmu is scheduled to arrive in Ranchi on Sunday evening, and the coordinated efforts of the district administration and police headquarters aim to ensure her visit proceeds smoothly and without incident.
