Rajasthan Police SOG Cracks Down on BSTC Exam Impersonation Scam
In a significant crackdown on education fraud, the Rajasthan Police's Special Operations Group (SOG) has arrested 12 individuals, including original candidates, for their alleged involvement in a racket that hired impersonators to appear in BSTC (Pre DLEd) examinations. The fraudulent activities spanned the 2019 and 2020 exam cycles, with money exchanged to facilitate the scheme.
Widespread Collusion Across Districts
Additional Director General (SOG) Vishal Bansal revealed that the accused, primarily hailing from Udaipur Rural and other districts, conspired with dummy candidates to fraudulently secure admission into teacher training programs. One of the key accused, Ravindrsingh Musawat, was apprehended from Bharatpur, highlighting the statewide reach of the operation.
Investigation Origins and Forensic Evidence
The case traces back to February 4, 2021, when Rohat police in Pali detained Ashok Saran under suspicious circumstances. Documents recovered from him unveiled a broader racket involving impersonators writing the BSTC exam on behalf of candidates. Subsequently, the SOG registered a formal case and launched a detailed probe.
Investigators meticulously collected original records from the registrar of education departmental examinations in Bikaner. They also obtained specimen signatures and handwriting samples from the accused. Forensic examination conclusively confirmed mismatches between the handwriting and signatures of the candidates and those on the exam records, thereby establishing impersonation, as stated by Bansal.
Coordinated Statewide Arrests
Acting on crucial leads, SOG teams were deployed across Rajasthan under the supervision of DIG Paris Deshmukh to track down the accused. In a coordinated action with district police, eleven individuals were arrested from Udaipur Rural, while another was nabbed in Bharatpur. This swift operation underscores the police's commitment to rooting out corruption in educational assessments.
Ongoing Probe and Broader Implications
Officials have confirmed that further investigation is actively underway to identify other members of the network and examine potential links with similar recruitment exam frauds. This case sheds light on systemic vulnerabilities in examination processes and the lengths to which individuals may go to bypass merit-based admissions.
The bust serves as a stern warning against such malpractices, emphasizing the authorities' vigilance in upholding the integrity of educational institutions in Rajasthan.
