Dharmapuri Quack Arrested for Illegally Prescribing Allopathic Drugs

In a significant crackdown on unqualified medical practice, a 47-year-old quack from Mayilkottai village in Dharmapuri district was arrested on Sunday for administering drugs and prescribing allopathic medicine to the public without any legitimate medical credentials. The individual, identified as Vajravel, had only studied up to Class XII, lacking the necessary education and training to practice medicine legally.

Police Raid and Seizure of Medical Supplies

Acting on a tip-off, the Adhiyamaankottai police conducted a raid at Vajravel's residence in Mayilkottai village. During the search, officers seized a substantial quantity of allopathic tablets, various drugs, and syringes, which were being used for unauthorized medical treatments. A police officer involved in the operation stated, "We received credible information about illegal medical activities. Our team promptly visited the village, searched Vajravel's house, and confiscated the contraband items, leading to his immediate arrest."

Repeat Offender with Prior Criminal Record

This is not the first time Vajravel has faced legal consequences for such offenses. The police officer further revealed that he had been arrested and jailed a few years ago for identical charges, highlighting a pattern of recurring illegal behavior. This repeat offense underscores the persistent risks posed by unlicensed practitioners in rural areas, where access to proper healthcare might be limited, making communities vulnerable to malpractice.

The arrest serves as a stern warning against quackery and emphasizes the importance of seeking medical treatment only from certified professionals. Authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious medical practices to prevent harm and ensure public safety.
