Punjab resident attacked with axe in Bilaspur, critical

A Punjab resident sustained critical injuries after being attacked with axes by unidentified assailants on the Kiratpur-Ner Chowk four-lane in Bilaspur district. The victim, identified as Sunny Gill (34), a resident of Ludhiana, Punjab, was allegedly involved in a shooting incident in 2024, according to police.

Attack near Mandi-Bharari Bridge

The incident occurred on Tuesday near the Mandi-Bharari Bridge when Gill was being taken to a local court. Several unidentified individuals arrived in a car, intercepted him, and launched a brutal attack with axes. The assailants assaulted Gill, leaving him in critical condition, before fleeing the scene. The attack reportedly took place in the presence of police personnel.

Victim rushed to AIIMS Bilaspur

Gill was immediately rushed to AIIMS Bilaspur by police with the help of locals, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Superintendent of Police (SP) Bilaspur, Abhishek Dhiman, confirmed the incident and stated that a police case has been registered and an investigation is underway. He added that teams have been formed to trace the accused, and police are analyzing CCTV footage to identify those involved.
