Pune Man Crushed by Water Tanker: Owner and Driver Face Severe Charges

Fatal Collision at Ravi Darshan Bus Stop
The victim, identified as Pratik Sheth, a resident of Rasta Peth, was traveling to Urali Kanchan for work on his scooter. At approximately 1:45 PM, as he approached the Ravi Darshan bus stop in Hadapsar, a speeding water tanker struck his vehicle. The impact caused Sheth to fall from his scooter, and he was subsequently crushed under the wheels of the massive tanker.
Driver Flees Scene, Later Apprehended
Following the collision, the tanker driver, Avinash Jadhav (33), a Hadapsar resident, abandoned the vehicle at the accident site and attempted to escape. Police launched an immediate manhunt and successfully apprehended Jadhav, taking him into custody for questioning and legal proceedings.
Investigation Reveals Multiple Safety Violations
Police officials conducting the investigation uncovered alarming safety deficiencies. The water tanker was not equipped with a mandatory 360-degree camera system, and there was no cleaner present to assist the driver with visibility and navigation.
