Violent Robbery in Pune Village: Family Assaulted, Jewellery Worth Rs 9.35 Lakh Stolen
In a shocking incident of home invasion, a gang of four robbers targeted a residence in Bori Budruk village, Junnar taluka, approximately 95 kilometers from Pune. The criminals made off with gold and silver jewellery valued at Rs 9.35 lakh after brutally assaulting the family members with sticks.
Family Locked and Beaten During Terrifying Ordeal
The victim, Nititsh Korde, a 33-year-old employee of a cooperative credit society, has filed a formal complaint with the Ale Phata police. According to authorities, Korde lives with his parents, wife, and son. On the fateful Saturday, his sister and two daughters had come to visit, making the household particularly vulnerable.
In the early hours of Sunday, two men forcibly entered Korde's home by smashing the main door with a large stone, while two accomplices waited outside. When Korde attempted to resist the intrusion, the duo attacked him with a stick. The assailants then threatened Korde, his wife, and other family members with sharp weapons, herding them into a single room where they proceeded to thrash everyone with sticks.
Systematic Looting and Phone Confiscation
The robbers compelled the women to surrender their gold and silver jewellery. They also ransacked cupboards in search of additional valuables. Before departing, the gang confiscated all the family's cellphones to prevent immediate calls for help. They locked the house from the outside and fled the scene.
Once the criminals left, Korde managed to contact a neighbour using a secondary phone that had been overlooked. The neighbour promptly arrived and unlocked the door. The family later discovered their confiscated cellphones discarded just outside the house.
Police Investigation and Additional Arrest in Separate Case
Police officials revealed that the accused also locked several other houses in the vicinity from the outside to thwart any intervention. In a further alarming detail, they stopped a passer-by and removed the SIM card from his mobile phone to prevent him from calling for assistance. An officer from the Ale Phata police stated, "We have launched a comprehensive search for the suspects involved in this heinous crime."
In a related development, the Shirur police arrested 20-year-old Akash Mergal of Jambut on Sunday for allegedly robbing a 90-year-old woman of gold jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh. That incident occurred on Friday afternoon when the suspect approached the elderly woman, inquired about her family, threatened her with a sickle, cut the jewellery from her person, and fled. Following a complaint by the woman's son, Mergal was apprehended, and the stolen jewellery was recovered.
