Pune Traffic Police Launch Strict Action Against Abandoned Vehicles

The Pune traffic police have launched a significant enforcement drive targeting vehicles that are parked along roadsides and left unattended for extended periods. This initiative aims to clear public spaces and improve traffic flow in the city.

24-Hour Notice Before Vehicle Seizure

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav, the police are serving notices to the owners of such vehicles. If the owner is not immediately identifiable, notices are being pasted directly onto the parked vehicles. "If such a vehicle is not removed within 24 hours of issuing the notices, the police will seize those vehicles," DCP Jadhav stated emphatically.

Public Participation Encouraged via PTP App

In a move to enhance community involvement, the DCP has urged residents to actively participate in this cleanup effort. Citizens are encouraged to share photographs of abandoned vehicles through the official Pune Traffic Police (PTP) application. "The police will immediately initiate action against such vehicles," Jadhav assured, highlighting the responsiveness of the authorities to public reports.

  • Enhance overall traffic management in the city

The crackdown reflects the police's commitment to maintaining order and safety on Pune's thoroughfares, addressing a long-standing issue of abandoned vehicles cluttering public areas.
