Pune Police Implement Rolling Traffic Diversions for Grand Tour Final Stage

The Pune City Police, in coordination with Pimpri Chinchwad traffic authorities, have announced significant traffic modifications for the fourth and concluding stage of the Pune Grand Tour 2026, scheduled for Friday. In a reassuring move for daily commuters, officials have confirmed that no road closures will extend beyond 30 minutes during the event.

Strategic Traffic Management for Minimal Disruption

Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil detailed the comprehensive planning behind these temporary changes. "We have already issued detailed notifications on the road closures and alternate routes," Patil stated. He emphasized that several major thoroughfares will remain fully operational, providing viable alternatives for motorists.

The unaffected routes include:

  • Sinhagad Road
  • Satara Road
  • Solapur Road
  • Magarpatta Bypass Road
  • Nagar Road
  • Old Pune Mumbai Highway

Arterial Roads to Avoid During Race Hours

While alternate routes are available, police have advised avoiding specific arterial roads to ensure smooth traffic flow. Patil specifically mentioned:

  1. Ganeshkhind Road
  2. Jangali Maharaj Road
  3. Fergusson College Road
  4. Karve Road
  5. Shastri Road
  6. Tilak Road
  7. Bajirao Road
  8. Shivaji Road
  9. Nehru Road
  10. MG Road
  11. Arjun Road
  12. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road

"We have made planning in such a manner that people do not have to wait on the road for long periods of time," Patil explained. "So as the race proceeds, the roads traversed by the race will be opened for the traffic."

Precise Timing and Public Participation

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav provided further clarity on the operational details. "We have done traffic planning in such a manner that the road closures at individual locations will be closed for only around 30 minutes," Jadhav confirmed. "During this closure period vehicles of the citizens will not be allowed to pass from the closure points. But people can certainly walk to view the race on these roads."

Jadhav extended an invitation to residents, saying, "We are appealing to people to witness this historic event for Pune adhering to the directions given by the police."

Event Schedule and Route Details

The final stage of the Pune Grand Tour 2026 will commence at 1:30 PM from the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi. The route will traverse significant areas across Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad before concluding at 4:00 PM at the Balgandharva Rang Mandir on Jangali Maharaj Road.
