The Ravet police have apprehended a chain snatcher with a prior criminal record, successfully resolving five cases of chain snatching and one vehicle theft. The accused, identified as Aditya Manlor (19), a resident of Shivajinagar, was found in possession of gold jewellery valued at Rs1.65 lakh and a stolen motorcycle, with a combined worth of Rs3 lakh. Manlor has a history of six registered cases involving chain and mobile handset snatching.
Arrest and Investigation
A team from the Ravet police station, led by Senior Police Inspector Nitin Fatangare, took the accused into custody following a thorough examination of CCTV footage. During interrogation, Manlor confessed to snatching gold chains alongside an accomplice in various areas, including Ravet, Hinjewadi, Talegaon Dabhade, and Vishrantwadi.
Recovery of Stolen Items
The police recovered stolen gold chains worth Rs1.65 lakh from Manlor. Additionally, he was using a stolen motorcycle to carry out the snatchings. The motorcycle had been stolen from Bidar in Karnataka. Investigations are ongoing, as confirmed by the officer.
