Sangvi Police Nab Adult Accused, Recover 5 Bikes

Acting on a crucial tip-off during the investigation of a recent motorcycle theft in the Sangvi area, a police team led by Senior Inspector Jitendra Koli apprehended Kishore Pawar (26), a resident of Pimple Gurav. Following his arrest and sustained interrogation, Pawar confessed to his involvement in not just the initial case but also five other motorcycle thefts carried out in the recent past.

The police subsequently recovered all five stolen two-wheelers from him. The value of the motorcycles recovered in this operation alone is estimated to be over ₹2.5 lakh.

Crime Branch Tracks Down Minor Duo for Joy Rides

In a separate but parallel operation, a team from the Crime Branch, under the leadership of Senior Inspector Narendra Thakare, detained two minors involved in a spree of two-wheeler thefts. From them, the police recovered five stolen motorcycles worth approximately ₹2.9 lakh.

The investigation revealed that the minors had stolen four motorcycles from various locations within the Pimpri Chinchwad area and one from Khopoli in the Raigad district.

Meticulous CCTV Investigation Unravels the Case

Unraveling this case required meticulous police work. An officer from the crime branch stated that the team scanned footage from more than 150 CCTV cameras to track the movements of the accused. The footage analysis showed that the individuals would avoid main roads after committing the thefts to evade detection.

"With the help of the footage, we identified them. They admitted to having stolen the two-wheelers from the Pimpri, Bhosari, and Chinchwad areas," the officer revealed. The primary motive behind the thefts, as confessed by the minors, was to take the vehicles for joy rides.

The twin operations demonstrate the effectiveness of combining human intelligence with technological surveillance in cracking down on vehicle theft, a common urban crime. The recovery of all ten vehicles provides significant relief to the affected owners and sends a strong message to potential offenders in the region.
