Pune Police Nab Godown Owner and Driver in Iron Pipe Theft Case
In a significant development, the North Mahalunge MIDC police have made arrests in connection with the theft of iron pipes from a rented godown in Koregaon, located in Khed taluka. The incident, which unfolded earlier this week, has led to the apprehension of two individuals, while authorities continue their search for additional suspects.
Details of the Theft and Arrests
According to police officials, a construction firm had leased a godown in Koregaon for the storage of various construction materials, including a substantial quantity of iron pipes. The firm's vigilance paid off when an employee, during the early hours of Monday, observed suspicious activity outside the premises.
The employee noticed a mini-truck parked near the godown, with individuals actively loading iron pipes from the storage facility into the vehicle. This prompted immediate action, as the employee confronted the suspects, leading to a chase.
The truck driver attempted to flee the scene but was swiftly apprehended by the firm's employee. During subsequent interrogation, the driver confessed to his involvement and implicated the godown owner in orchestrating the theft. This revelation prompted police to arrest the godown owner as well, charging both with theft-related offenses.
Ongoing Investigation and Suspects at Large
Police have confirmed that two more individuals are believed to be involved in this theft and are currently evading capture. Authorities have assured that efforts are underway to locate and arrest these suspects, emphasizing their commitment to resolving the case fully.
This incident highlights concerns over security at storage facilities and the need for heightened vigilance among businesses renting such spaces. The police have urged other firms to review their security measures to prevent similar occurrences.
