Police Sub-Inspector Suspended Over Grave Sexual Exploitation and Forced Abortion Allegations
In a shocking case from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, a 57-year-old police sub-inspector (PSI) stationed at the Kranti Chowk police station has been suspended following serious allegations of sexual exploitation and coercion. A 23-year-old woman has filed a formal complaint accusing the officer of exploiting her over an 11-month period under the false promise of marriage, and forcing her to undergo abortions on three separate occasions.
Detailed Allegations and FIR Contents
The complainant, a resident of Nanded who works for a private firm in Pune, lodged the FIR on February 18. She has also implicated the PSI's wife and son in her complaint, alleging that they threatened and assaulted her, which she claims resulted in a miscarriage. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Commissioner of Police Pravin Kumar confirmed the suspension on Friday, stating, "We have suspended the PSI and have initiated a preliminary inquiry against him considering the nature of allegations levelled in the FIR. A woman police inspector has been assigned to conduct the inquiry."

Chronology of Events and Exploitation
According to the FIR, the woman first encountered the PSI on March 7, 2025, when she visited the police station to report her lost mobile phone. The officer later contacted her, claiming he was verifying her number, and subsequently maintained communication. He allegedly lured her into a relationship with repeated promises of marriage, taking her to various lodges across the city for physical relations.
The complainant further alleges that the PSI forced her to undergo abortions three times in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar against her will. In a disturbing detail, the officer is accused of tying a fake mangalsutra around her neck to falsely convince her she was his wife. When she insisted on marriage, he reportedly abused and assaulted her.
Family Involvement and Escalation
The situation escalated on January 28 when, according to the FIR, the PSI's wife and son threatened and assaulted the woman, allegedly causing a miscarriage. This incident prompted her to formally file the complaint, leading to the officer's suspension and the transfer of the case to the Vedantnagar police station for further investigation.
Police Inspector Pravina Yadav from Vedantnagar police station provided an update, stating, "The suspect is absent from duty. Our teams went to his home but he was not found there. He has gone underground and our teams are making efforts to arrest him." The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to locate the suspended PSI and thoroughly examine all allegations.
