In Ajmer, a new group has stepped forward with a contentious claim. Pratap Sena, a Hindu organization, announced on Monday that it will file a court case. The group asserts that a Shiva temple lies buried beneath the revered dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti.
Pratap Sena's Legal Move
Rajvardhan Singh Parmar, the national president of Pratap Sena, held a press conference in Ajmer. He declared the group's intention to seek judicial intervention. This decision comes after what they describe as government inaction.
"We are not claiming or filing a suit unnecessarily; we have evidence and proof," Parmar stated emphatically. He elaborated on the historical context behind their claim.
"It is a historical fact that aggressors destroyed temples in India and constructed mosques and tombs or shrines at those places," he added, framing the issue within a broader narrative of historical displacement.
Government Appeals Yield No Results
Parmar detailed the group's previous efforts. Pratap Sena wrote letters to the highest offices in the country. These included appeals to the President of India and the Prime Minister.
They also reached out to Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. The group provided what they call evidence to support their temple claim. However, they received no substantive response or action from these authorities.
"So, we will knock on the court doors," Parmar concluded, signaling a shift from political appeals to legal battle.
Expanding the Claim to Adhai Din Ka Jhopara
The group's demands extend beyond the main dargah. Pratap Sena also includes the nearby Adhai Din Ka Jhopara monument in their claim. This historic structure is a significant site in Ajmer.
They are calling for an official archaeological survey. This survey would aim to verify the existence of temple remnants beneath these Islamic sites. The demand for verification is central to their legal strategy.
Background and Precedent
This is not the first legal challenge regarding the Ajmer dargah. Another Hindu organization, Hindu Sena, filed a similar civil suit in November 2024. That case remains pending before a lower court in Ajmer.
The emergence of Pratap Sena with identical claims indicates a growing movement. Multiple groups are now pursuing legal avenues to address historical and religious site disputes. The courts in Ajmer are set to become a focal point for these contentious issues.
The situation highlights ongoing tensions over religious heritage in India. Legal battles over historical sites continue to spark debate and draw national attention. The outcome of these cases could have significant implications for similar disputes across the country.
