Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Gangapur Police Launch Manhunt After Brutal Assault on Driver

In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the region, the Gangapur police in rural Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar are actively searching for five to six unidentified men who allegedly subjected a mini-pickup driver to a horrific assault, including severing his genitals, following a quarrel on Saturday evening. The brutal attack occurred at Shindewadi Phata, located on the Gangapur-Lasur Road, at approximately 7:30 PM.

Victim in Critical Condition at Government Hospital

The 32-year-old victim, a resident of Sillegaon village in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, is currently undergoing intensive treatment at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Medical professionals have reported that his condition remains critical, and he is suffering from deep shock due to the severe nature of the injuries sustained during the violent altercation.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Violent Confrontation

According to Inspector Kumarsingh Rathod of the Gangapur police, the incident unfolded when the victim and his friend, both drivers, were returning after unloading a cotton consignment. Their mini-pickup vehicle developed a mechanical snag and came to a halt on a sharp turn along the road. A fault in the electrical circuit prevented them from activating the parking lights or indicators.

At this critical moment, another van approached from behind at high speed and narrowly avoided a collision. The occupants of the speeding van, five to six men, exited their vehicle and immediately began quarrelling with the victim and his friend, demanding to know why they had not used any warning lights.

Verbal Duel Escalates into Physical Violence and Mutilation

The police investigation, based on accounts from the victim and his driver friend, reveals that the duo attempted to explain the electrical fault, but the situation quickly deteriorated into an exchange of abusive language. Fearing for his safety, the victim fled into a nearby field. His friend, however, apologized to the group, who then assisted in restarting the pickup and allowed him to depart, assuming the victim would return.

Tragically, the angry men pursued the victim, caught him, and subjected him to a severe beating. In a brutal act of violence, they then severed his genitals before abandoning him on the roadside.

Emergency Response and Police Action

The victim managed to contact his driver friend using a passerby's cellphone, requesting immediate assistance to transport him to a hospital. Simultaneously, villagers who discovered the scene called an ambulance, which initially took him to a local medical facility. Due to the gravity of his injuries, he was subsequently referred to GMCH for specialized care.

Preliminary police findings suggest that the suspects became enraged after the victim retaliated with abuses during the quarrel. Based on a complaint filed by the victim's cousin, an FIR has been registered under BNS section 118 (2) for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using dangerous weapons or means.

Ongoing Investigation and Search for Suspects

The Gangapur police have mobilized three dedicated teams to track down the vehicle involved, utilizing descriptions provided by the victim and his fellow driver. The primary objective is to identify the suspects and ensure they are apprehended and brought to justice for this heinous crime. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation.
