Police Extern 24-Year-Old History-Sheeter in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

In a decisive move to curb criminal activities, the police in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have issued a stringent externment order against a 24-year-old habitual offender. The action was taken on Tuesday under a powerful state law designed to tackle serious threats to public order.

Stringent Legal Action Under Maharashtra's Anti-Social Activities Act

The police invoked section 3(1) of the Maharashtra Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug Offenders, Dangerous Persons and other Anti-Social Activities Act, 1981 against the accused. The identified individual is Sheikh Adil Sheikh Shahrukh (24), a resident of the Garkheda area. Following the order, he was taken into custody and confined to the Central Prison at Nagpur.

Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar explained the rationale behind this severe step. He stated that despite earlier preventive measures, the accused persistently engaged in violent and unlawful conduct. His actions were deemed a serious threat to public peace, leaving the authorities with no alternative but to pursue externment.

A Trail of Escalating Criminal Cases

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Rajput provided further details on the accused's criminal history. He revealed that initial preventive action had been initiated against Sheikh Adil under section 129 of the BNSS (Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita). However, the individual continued to commit offences with increasing severity.

Police records paint a picture of a deeply entrenched criminal profile. Sheikh Adil is facing multiple cases across several police stations, including Satara, Usmanpura, and Jawahar Nagar. The charges against him are grave and varied, encompassing:

  • Attempt to murder
  • Robbery
  • Voluntarily causing hurt
  • Theft
  • Illegal possession of weapons
  • Abduction
  • Violation of prohibitory orders
  • Wrongful restraint
  • Criminal intimidation

Zero-Tolerance Stance on Public Safety

This externment order underscores the police department's commitment to maintaining public order and safety. The use of the 1981 Act, a legislation intended for the most disruptive elements, signals a zero-tolerance approach towards individuals whose activities terrorize communities.

The case highlights the challenges law enforcement faces with repeat offenders who do not reform despite initial interventions. The decision to extern Sheikh Adil from his local area is aimed at dismantling his network and providing immediate relief to the residents of Garkheda and surrounding localities from his alleged reign of intimidation and crime.
