Manawar Police Crack Down on Village Betting Operation

Manawar police successfully busted a betting racket in a village late Saturday night. The operation led to the booking of nine persons involved in illegal gambling activities.

Police Raid Based on Tip-Off

Sub Inspector Manish Chowdhry, the Investigation Officer for the case, provided details to TOI. Police received specific information about an active betting racket operating in Kuradakhal village. This village sits approximately four kilometres from Manawar town.

A dedicated police team swiftly organized a raid based on this intelligence. They targeted a location near a culvert at the agricultural farm belonging to Mahesh Sirvi. The raid commenced around 9:30 PM on Saturday.

Arrests and Seizures During the Operation

During the raid, police confirmed nine persons were actively engaged in betting. However, five individuals managed to escape under the cover of darkness. Officers successfully apprehended four suspects at the scene.

Authorities seized material evidence from the arrested individuals. This included playing cards used for the gambling operation. Police also confiscated Rs 9,000 in cash from the site.

Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Search

The four arrested persons furnished personal bonds following their detention. Police issued formal notices to them under section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). This legal action marks the beginning of formal proceedings against those caught.

Meanwhile, the search for the five absconding persons continues. Manawar police remain actively engaged in efforts to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in this betting racket.
