Patna Wedding Celebration Turns Tragic: Youth Fatally Stabbed in Loud Music Dispute
In a shocking incident that unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday, an 18-year-old youth named Vikas Kumar was stabbed to death following a violent clash triggered by the playing of loud music from a wedding DJ. The tragic event occurred in the Dujra Devisthan lane, located within the jurisdiction of the Buddha Colony police station area in Patna.
Escalation of Tensions Over Nighttime Celebrations
According to eyewitness accounts, the confrontation began when a wedding ceremony was being held next door to Vikas Kumar's residence. The groom's procession had arrived from Malsalami in Patna City for the marriage of Lalit Mahato's younger daughter. As the celebrations continued late into the night, loud music from the DJ system became a point of contention.
Local residents, disturbed by the noise, objected to the dancing and singing. This objection quickly escalated into a heated argument. Several members from the groom's side, who were reportedly intoxicated and creating a ruckus, clashed with the local youths. Soon, both groups began attacking each other, turning the festive atmosphere into one of chaos and violence.
Fatal Misidentification Leads to Stabbing
As the situation intensified, scared members of the wedding party sought refuge by entering a nearby house. When the attackers started banging on the door to force their way in, Vikas's brother, Neeraj, came out to investigate. Mistaking him for one of the wedding guests, the assailants severely beat Neeraj and struck his head.
Hearing the commotion, Vikas rushed outside to check on his injured brother. Tragically, he was stabbed with a knife by the attackers and succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The local community was left in shock as the young man lost his life in this senseless act of violence.
Police Response and Ongoing Investigation
Vikas's family has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at the Buddha Colony police station. However, some locals have provided additional context, alleging that the clash initially broke out around 1 am. During this earlier altercation, youths attacked each other with belts. A police patrol team intervened at that time, using mild lathicharge to disperse the crowd and urging calm to allow the wedding to proceed peacefully.
Unfortunately, in the absence of police presence, the fighting resumed around 3 am, culminating in the fatal stabbing. Senior police officials have confirmed that the accused have been identified, and raids are currently underway to apprehend them. Two motorcycles were seized from the scene as part of the investigation.
SHO Pallav of Buddha Colony police station stated, "Police have seized two motorcycles from the spot. The exact motive will be clear after the arrest of the accused." The authorities are working diligently to bring those responsible to justice and prevent such tragedies in the future.
