Patna Woman Found Hanging at In-Laws' Home; Family Alleges Dowry Murder

A tragic incident unfolded in Patna district on Monday. A 26-year-old woman named Mohini Kumari was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan at her in-laws' residence. The house is located in Chipura Khurd village under the jurisdiction of the Gaurichak police station.

Family Accuses Husband and In-Laws of Foul Play

Mohini's family members have made serious allegations. They claim that she was murdered for dowry. According to them, Mohini endured prolonged physical, sexual, and mental harassment before her death. Her parents and relatives insist that she was first killed and then her body was hanged to stage a suicide.

Mohini had married a man named Abhishek approximately six months prior to this incident. The family's accusations point directly at her husband and in-laws.

Police Investigation and Official Statements

Police authorities have taken swift action in response to the case. Officers detained Mohini's husband for questioning. An FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team visited the scene to collect crucial evidence.

Vinay Kumar Ranjan, the in-charge of Gaurichak police station, provided an update on the investigation. He confirmed that the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. The police are currently recording statements from both the victim's family and the husband's side.

"We have sent the body for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway," stated Ranjan. "Statements are being recorded from both sides. So far, no written complaint has been submitted by either party."

Initial Findings and Pending Conclusions

The Station House Officer (SHO) shared preliminary observations from the scene. At first glance, the evidence suggests the woman died by suicide. However, the police emphasize that this is only an initial assessment.

"Prima facie, it appears that the woman died by suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan," explained the SHO. "But the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the post-mortem report and a detailed police investigation."

The case remains under active investigation. Authorities await the official post-mortem report to determine the precise cause of death. The police probe will continue to examine all angles, including the family's allegations of dowry-related murder.
