Patna Police Teams Attacked in Separate Raids on Narcotics and Illegal Sand Mining

In a day of violent confrontations in the state capital, two separate police teams in Patna were attacked by mobs during raids on Tuesday. The incidents occurred in the Buddha Colony and Ranitalab police station areas, highlighting the dangers faced by law enforcement while tackling organized crime.

Anti-Narcotics Team Ambushed in Buddha Colony

In the first incident, a five-member anti-narcotics team was conducting a raid based on a specific tip-off about a drug peddler operating in the Chinakothi area under Buddha Colony police station. As soon as the officers reached the location to search for the suspect, they were suddenly surrounded and attacked by a hostile crowd.

The attackers used stones and rods to assault the police personnel, resulting in injuries to two officers during the violent confrontation. The situation escalated rapidly as the officers found themselves trapped by the aggressive mob.

ASP (Law and Order-I) Krishna Murari Prasad provided details about the incident: "The anti-narcotics officers were attacked at Chinakothi under Buddha Colony police station area. The officers were surrounded by the crowd. Fortunately, the police from Buddha Colony police station reached the spot on time."

Despite the violent resistance, the team managed to apprehend the accused drug peddler, identified as Aakash Dhangar, who has a significant criminal history. Dhangar and his wife had previously been sent to jail on charges of selling drugs, indicating a pattern of narcotics-related offenses.

ASP Prasad emphasized that strict action would be taken against all those responsible for the attack on police personnel performing their official duties.

Police Team Targeted by Sand Mafia in Dhanraj Chapra Village

In a separate but similarly violent incident, a police team conducting a raid on illegal sand mining operations in Patna's Dhanraj Chapra village came under attack from sand mafia members and their supporters. The confrontation occurred in the Ranitalab police station area, where officers were investigating unauthorized mining activities.

The miscreants pelted stones at the police team and damaged their vehicles in an attempt to disrupt the operation and protect their illegal activities. Faced with the violent assault, the police officers fired several rounds in the air in self-defense to disperse the attackers and protect themselves from harm.

Ranitalab SHO Manish Kumar Ranjan described the police response: "Additional police force was called and the village was cordoned off. A search operation is underway to arrest those involved in the attack and the illegal mining."

During the subsequent search operation, police recovered substantial evidence from the site, including 24 empty cartridges, a sword, various arms, four motorcycles, and four tractors that were likely being used in the illegal mining operations. A formal case has been registered, and a thorough investigation is currently underway to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in both the attack and the illegal sand mining activities.

The coordinated police response included establishing a security perimeter around the village to prevent the escape of suspects while conducting systematic searches of the area. These twin attacks on police teams performing their duties represent significant challenges to law enforcement operations against organized crime networks operating in the region.
