Patna police have announced a major breakthrough in a brutal murder case that shocked the city. Investigators say they have solved the killing of Amit Kumar Shah, who was found dead near Sikaria village under the IIT Amhara police station area.
A Brutal Attack with Bricks and Stones
The incident occurred on December 31. Amit Kumar Shah suffered a violent death. Police reports indicate attackers used bricks and stones to beat him. His blood-soaked body was discovered at the scene. Officers also recovered a motorcycle nearby.
Insurance Policy Motive Revealed
During the investigation, police uncovered a shocking motive. Amit Kumar Shah had an accidental insurance policy worth Rs 10 lakh. His close friend, Satish Kumar, was listed as the nominee for this substantial payout.
Investigators allege Satish Kumar conspired with another individual named Durga Devi. Their plan was simple yet brutal. They wanted to kill Amit and claim the insurance money for themselves.
How the Crime Unfolded
Police reconstruction suggests the accused duo lured Amit Kumar Shah to the location before attacking him. The method was particularly violent, involving bricks and stones readily available at the site.
City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh provided details about the police response. "We recovered the body and the motorcycle," he stated. "Our teams worked quickly to identify and apprehend the suspects."
Arrests and Custody
Both Satish Kumar and Durga Devi have been arrested in connection with the murder. The police have obtained remand, meaning both accused remain in police custody for further questioning.
This case highlights how financial motives can corrupt personal relationships. What began as friendship ended in tragedy because of greed over insurance money.
Patna police are continuing their investigation to ensure all aspects of the crime are thoroughly examined. The community remains shaken by this violent act that occurred as the year ended.
